Situated along the famous street of Haji Lane, Mad Sailors is a small yet cozy cafe that serves contemporary British cuisines. The place is being flocked by a lot of Caucasians all day because of its good food that's affordable and reasonably priced. Went there past lunch time around 2 PM and was kind impressed at how full the place was. I noticed that it has a 2nd-floor area but at the time of my visit, It wasn't still opened yet so I had to wait for some time to finally get seated. The interior of the place is not something to rave about. It was pretty simple for my judgement and I hate the fact that it's not air-conditioned. The humid here in Singapore is quite high which makes the place at times unbearable. But for the love of food, I got some recommendations from the staff and after thinking about it ordered the following items: Haddock Fish and Chips (SGD 20) - Authentic Haddock has a slightly firmer texture that gives a nice bite. True enough, this fish fillet had a different texture than that of a normal Cod. After taking the first bite, It was indeed kinda firmer though the taste was somehow bland. I didn't enjoy this dish that much because some parts of it are dry. Gravy Train Sarny (SGD 20) - Juicy beef patty in brioche topped with mild cheddar, gherkin, tomatoes, turkey bacon drenched in onion gravy. Came out pretty good in terms of presentation as expected and I thank God I ordered this dish. Tried a lot of burgers and I can say that this goes to the category of good ones. I love the gravy sauce that comes with it as it has a pretty unique taste and also the beef patty was juicy and delicious. I really enjoyed this dish especially with that thick cut fries on the side. For the drinks I ordered a Hot Chocolate (SGD 6) At first look, I thought that I just ordered a normal chocolate drink but after tasting it I was surprised at how deliciously different this was. It wasn't the thick type like in Angelina's but it had a rich and flavorful cocoa taste that I liked. Go try it and taste for yourself. MENU:Cost per Person: Approximately around 25 SGD Rating: (3/5) Recommended Dish: Gravy Train Sarny
