Serving Belgian waffle dishes with a unique twist is a staple remark about No. 3. This small yet cool and warm restaurant has a perfect ambiance for enjoying good food with good friends. It is located at Al Safa in Box Park, Dubai.

If someone would ask me for a great, decent, and satisfying Italian restaurant around the city, the first thing that would probably cross my mind is Per Te. Though there is a dozen of Italian restaurants around the corner but for some reason, this luxurious fine dining themed restaurant easily captivated my taste buds. Per Te already has two branches in Dubai. There is one in Business bay area and another one which is their first branch is located behind Jumeirah Plaza. For our food tasting session, the event was held at the latter. The place was very easy to fall in love with. It has a warm and laid back atmosphere perfect for a private dinner with friends/family.
It was a zomato meetup kind of day and it was one event that I simply couldn't miss. An avenue for me to meet and greet other foodies. Upon arriving, the staff was kind enough to serve us some juice which was simply refreshing. While waiting for some food, they were kind enough to offer some bread platter.
Bread Platter - Focaccia Alla Pugliese served with sundried tomatoes, basil pesto, and arrabbiata sauce.
This spongy cake was a very good snack to munch on and is best when you put in some toppings. I love mine with sundried tomatoes/ basil pesto.
Then after a few minutes came the Antipasti(starers). We were served with the following dishes: Burrata con pomodorini - Fresh creamy burrata cheese, roasted vine cherry tomatoes, semidried cherry tomatoes, fresh vine cherry tomatoes, extra virgin olive oil and fresh basil leave.
One thing I love the most about Italian food is this staple burrata dish and Per Te had one of the best burrata that I have ever tried.
Carpaccio di manzo al tartufo - Thinly sliced beef tenderloin with truffle carpaccio, rocket and parmesan cheese.
The thinly sliced beef with truffle oil was a good dish to try. It was something new which made the taste a bit weird at first bite..
Tartare di tonno al frutto della passione - Tuna tartare with passion fruit.
Thin slices of fresh raw tuna shaped perfectly and smothered with passion fruit juice on the side. It initially tasted a bit weird considering the tuna was still raw but eventually, I began to love the dish.
Sacchetti di bresaola con caprino - bresaola money bags stuffed with goat cheese, pine nuts, black raisins, and fresh figs.
Stuffed meat slices shaped into money bags. I didn't quite like this dish. It tasted weird for me maybe because I don't really like raisins.
Gamberi e calamari fritti con sale e pepe - Fried calamari and prawns served with rock salt, crushed pepper, lemon, and pesto mayonnaise.
This is probably the best starter dish in the menu. The calamari and prawns were marinated very tasty. The meat was very soft and juicy and it never failed to make every bite count. A must try. :D
Bruschetta con stracciatellae tartufo nero -Bruschetta with Stracciatella and black truffle.
.My next favorite starter dish is this one. It may look a little bit of weird but devouring everything in a single bite was enough to taste all the flavors merging to a single taste that is easy to fall in love with. A must try.
The starters were generally good, some of which could even pass to mains. I like how the starters were artistically presented and conceptualized. There was art in every angle. Next thing that came were the main dishes. MAINS:
Risotto con asparagi gamberi rossi carpaccio e bottarga - rissotto with asparagus, red prawns carpaccio and bottarga.
Another staple dish that is hard to not like is risotto and this version of per Te is a very good option. The prawn was huge and the texture of the risotto was excellent. Definitely, a must try dish.
Galletto con fregola e mascarpone - Baby chicken with fregola, wild mushrooms, potatoes, broccoli, cherry tomatoes and mascarpone cheese.
These baby chicken slices were nothing out of the ordinary. The meat tasted bland and there was not enough flavor to make it memorable.
Orecchiette con ragu di agnello e stracciatella - Typical Italian ear-shaped pasta with slow cook cube lamb ragu, mushroom, and cherry tomatoes and Stracciatella cheese.
This pasta is one of the best things I've tried. When it comes to pasta, I am a big fan of red sauce and a number of herbs and spices made it excellent.
Strozzapretti con Funghi selvatici e Tartufo - Strozzapretti with wild mushroom and truffle.
Another pasta dish but in white sauce version, the taste was simple with mushroom and truffles to enhance the taste. It was good but not as good as the first pasta we tried.
The mains were at the average. Some dishes were good some were ordinary but the risotto was the best thing ever. After some time, desserts were served at our table which was the next best thing in a full meal. DESSERTS:
Lieto - 75% cocoa smooth and shiny chocolate brick with roasted nuts, orange sweet zest, creamy coffee sauce, served with passion fruit semifreddo.
We were tasked to design our own version of this dessert. I suck at making my own theme hence the output. Though the whole process was fun, I didn't quite like the taste of this dish. It was plain and boring.
Fondente al cioccolato - Hot dark coca chocolate fondant served with vanilla ice cream.
The dark chocolate fondant was not that great but the vanilla ice cream was tasty and creamy. I find the dish too sweet for me.
Tiramisu - A classic Italian dessert with mascarpone cheese, strong espresso coffee, and savoiardi biscuits, dusted with cocoa.
Your classic tiramisu dessert which is made with coffee and cocoa. You probably won't need a cup of coffee to get your caffeine fix. This dessert is enough. The dish is actually pretty good. I love the presentation and the taste.
Semifreddo - Homemade class of creamy semi-frozen dessert with vanilla, mix berries, and creamy balsamic.
Hands down to the best dessert dish served at Per Te. The presentation of this dish is outstanding and the taste is truly remarkable and unique. A must try in the dessert section. It isn't that sweet and the burnt caramel taste was so good.
Overall, I love the food served. This place is certainly a haven for Italian food. The word Per Te will definitely be an option for the best tasting Italian cuisine around the city. Two thumbs up for the food and presentation.
Serving Contemporary Asian cuisine, Le Ten is conveniently located at Dubai Mall and it has been one of my favorite go-to places for a scrumptious Asian modern cooking. Dining here gives you a good spot to enjoy the great view of Souk Al Bahar and is perfect for a romantic/ family dinner, especially in the winter season.
I was fortunate enough to get an invite in my first ever Zomato Meetup where I got to meet a lot of people who share the same interest as I do and who wouldn't mind taking pictures first before taking a bite on those good food being served right in front of you.
These were all the food served in our table: STARTERS:
Smoked Duck Spring Roll - Deep Fried Spring Rolls with smoked duck and cheese filling.
The smoked duck and cheese were a very good combination to start with. The duck had a very good taste and texture which complemented the milky cheese pretty well.
Lettuce Roll with Japanese Sesame Dressing - Butterhead lettuce rolled with shaved japanese cucumber served on a bed of ice with a rich sesame dip.
I loved how this simple dish stood out on the table. The lettuce was crunchy and the dressing had a strong but good peanut taste which I personally loved.
Assorted Wanton and Dumplings - A plate of various dumpling that is served with chili oil and black vinegar.
Though, the taste of the dumpling was not that bad. I find it normal and ordinary. It had very little meat inside and feels like eating plain flour. Better to skip this one.
RICE AND NOODLES:
Classic Chao Mien - Classic noodles stir fried with some dark soy sauce and is served with shredded carrots.
A simple classic soy noodle dish to try. I find it bland and lacking with flavor.
Original Singapore Fried Bee Hoon - Singapore style stir fried rice with curry powder served with diced prawn, chicken, and bean sprout.
I find this dish a bit weird. I personally didn't like this one. In my opinion, you can skip this one.
Devil Fried Rice - Stir fried rice that is mixed with diced sirloin beef, chili, pepper, and spring onion in black pepper sauce.
I liked this rice dish a lot and is a good pair of your mains.
Popping Seafood Fried Rice - Egg Fried Rice with diced prawns, crab meat, and tobiko caviar.
Seafood served in a cup of rice would probably best describe this dish. A very good one that is highly recommended for all seafood lovers. CHICKEN DISHES:
Szechuan Kungpo Chicken Fillet with Cashew Nuts - chicken fillet that is stir fried with dried chili and cashew nuts.
I find this dish bland and lacks the spiciness and flavor. This can be skipped in your orders.
Pineapple Chicken - chicken cubes in a sweet and sour sauce that are mixed with pineapple, chili, tomato sauce, and onions.
I am personally not a fan of sweet and sour sauce that is why i didn't quite enjoy this one.
Espresso Chicken - chunks of crispy chicken coated with a special fragrant espresso coffee and topped with almond flakes.
A surprisingly good dish to try. The taste of the espresso was not overpowering and it complimented the chicken so well. BEEF DISHES:
Le Ten Mongolian Beef - fried sirloin beef slices that are mixed with a sweet pepper sauce.
It had a nice crispy texture but the sweet pepper sauce tasted just on the average.
Seared Imperial Beef - Pan-seared marinated beef fillet served on a bed of baby asparagus.
This is one of the best beef dishes that I have tried. It is very tender and juicy. The beef is well marinated. Highly recommended to try. SEAFOOD DISHES:
Wasabi Prawn - Crispy fresh deshelled prawns with wasabi mayo sitting on a cubed watermelon.
Indeed, it's a very intriguing dish to sample. They say that the best way to consume it is by first eating the prawns and when you feel the spiciness then you consume the watermelon. I highly recommend everyone to try this dish out.
Curry Mayo Prawn - Crispy deshelled prawn served with curry mayo sauce and sprinkled with crushed cashew nuts.
This goes to the top spot of my favorite dishes served in this resto. The sweet curry mayo sauce is very delicious and the huge prawn was completely satisfying. A huge thumbs up for this dish.
Pan-seared Salmon with Thai Lime Chili - Thai inspired pan seared salmon with a side of lime and Thai chili sauce.
Perfectly crispy salmon with a hint of lime. One of the good salmon that I have tried so far in the city.
Baked Honey Cod Fish - Freshly baked cod fish marinated with honey, served with baked cherry tomatoes and baby french beans.
A thick slice of cod fish that is baked to perfection and marinated with honey. By just looking at the dish you can see how fresh the fish was. The taste was superb and the texture of the meat is very soft and smooth.
VEGETABLE DISHES:
Ma Po Tofu - Golden Brown bean curd topped with minced chicken, pepper, chili and mushrooms sitting on a nicely cooked spicy sauce.
This is also one amazing dish. I was amazed how the simple ingredients used turned out to be a great dish.
Baked Broccoli with Cheese - stir fried broccoli baked with mozzarella cheese.
I liked how simple and beautiful this dish looks. I loved the combination of mozzarella cheese and broccoli.
Chap Chye - A mix of broccoli, mushrooms, baby bok choy, carrot, cabbage, green pepper and baby asparagus stir fried in oyster sauce and sesame oil.
In our place, this dish is called chop suey. Basically, it is similar to taste and texture but the vegetables used were somehow different. Though still a good dish for vegetarians. BEVERAGES:
Red velvet Frachiller (left) - Red velvet, chocolate, cashew nuts and milk.
A dessert put in a glass. Your typical red velvet chocolate shake. Though it has less sweetness as i expected but maybe not a good choice for this type of food being served. But the taste is good. Mojitomato (right) - Red berry Fruit mix, Carribean, basil leaves, lime, soda water and cherry tomato. My favorite drink here. I love the combination of lime, berry and soda water. A very refreshing drink to try. DESSERTS:
The best cake that i have tried is the Honey Cake and Lemon Cheesecake. Both had a light and delectable taste.
Overall, I really enjoyed my experience at Le Ten. This is a very good place to sample modernized Chinese cuisine. Recommended Orders: Drinks : Mojitomato Food: Smoked Duck Spring Roll Popping Seafood Rice Le Ten Mongolian Beef Wasabi Prawn Curry Mayp Prawn Dessert: Honey Cake Lemon Cheesecake |
