Recently, a new restaurant has been making a big buzz around the city for its intriguing plating techniques and distinguishing take on international cuisines fused with Indian cooking styles. Started out in India, Farzi Cafe has recently opened its newest branch in Dubai.
Being located at the newest City Square 2, Farzi Cafe has quickly established itself as one of the must foodie destination when in Dubai. It specializes in molecular gastronomy so prepare to be swept out of your feet when your food arrives at your table.
Though fancy at it is, Farzi Cafe is not a fine dining type of restaurant. It's more of a casual dining taken at a higher level.
Aside from the food, the interiors is something to look forward to. It has an enchanting ambiance with starlit walls that feels magical and relaxing. We had a look at their menu and let me just say that it's probably the cutest menu I've seen around the city.
It wasn't' long til' the food arrived at our table but before you start they serve you with a welcome treat.
Amuse Bouche - little pots of berry yogurt that literally melts in your mouth.
I personally loved this welcome treat. The presentation itself was already stunning having that cloudy effect heightens the experience.
After taking this shot, you can never be prepared enough of what lies ahead. For our first round of drink we had: Ananas Orbits - Your virgin pina colada mixed with coconut and pineapple served in a glass shaped like Alladin's lamp. The blue circles inside the drink are Pina Colada Caviars.
This is one hell of a refreshing drink. I love this drink and the caviars were just bursting with flavors.
After having a sip the array of food quickly swarmed our table. :O
Raj Kachori - Tangy Chaat Puff that's stuffed with spiced yogurt mix inside topped with a light and tangy chutney foam and served with an okra salad.
Was curious at this dish served at our table, But I personally find this Indian dish too much for my liking.
Daal Chaawal Arancini - Considered as a staple food in India, Farzi Cafe has revolutionized the way it is presented in the form of Arancini balls that's stuffed with Lentils, Rice, and Chutney then topped off with mini papadam rolls.
This has been hailed by a lot of foodies for its inventive ways of representing the traditional Indian dish. I liked how the spices actually worked in this dish.
Deconstructed Shepherd's Pie - Served in a moon shaped dish, Their imaginative mind does it again when they reinvented the traditional shepherds pie by deconstructing it and placing it with some Wagyu Beef, Roasted Potatoes, and Beetroot crisps on a bed of creamy mashed potatoes.
I am completely loving this dish at every bite. I loved the creamy mashed potato and the Wagyu Beef was so juicy and tender. Everyone who wants to visit Farzi should order this dish. It will blow you away for sure. :D
Hand-crafted Wagyu sliders - super soft bun sandwiched with slices of a curry leaf and pepper flavored Wagyu Steak. Well, looking closely at the picture and seeing those layers of wagyu beef slices make me hungry to the highest extent. I for one would gladly vouch for this dish.
Tempura Fried Prawn - The famous Dynamite shrimp has been farzified into this Batter fried Tempura prawn that's topped with Chili Foam and sprinkled with caviar beads.
This is another top notch dish that everyone should try out. I recommend you to devour this one with some chili foam and caviar beads. Doing so improves the flavor of the dish and be prepared to be addicted.
Braised lamb chops - fall off the bones lamb chops marinated well with maple and kokum glaze sprinkled with micro popcorn.
The lamb chops were so tender they literally fall off the bones and eating this dish was at ease. I love the juiciness and sweetness of this dish.
Tandoori wild mushrooms - Barbecued wild mushrooms mixed with a garlic pepper cream and topped off with some tomato and garlic crush plus some broken walnut chunks.
Upon arrival of this dish, the strong and aromatic smell of truffle was very evident and the power of truffle in this dish looked too good. Smoke was literally overflowing at this dish. I love truffles and I'm in love with this dish.
Karak Chai Soda - Karak chai mixture with tea spices, sumac berries, topped with soda & strongly spiced cinnamon.
The glass was served with a piece of strawberry and It had a smoky effect while being served. This drink was very refreshing and a very good show stopper before you continue with the other food.
Farzified shawarma biryani - crusted layered rice biryani mixed with fried egg topped with grilled chicken marinated with green chili curry and served with some labneh raita.
This main dish had a very good chicken flavor and the biryani was marinated pretty well. I love how the labneh raita neutralizes that taste of the grilled chicken.
Chicken Tikka Masala - A traditional classic dish that's composed of tender chicken morsels and mixed with San Marzano Curry.
This dish was served in a telephone booth because the dish has been famed as a favorite food in London. It's quite spicy for those who aren't accustomed to chili and the chicken is so tender.
Bootlegger - a Pomegranate based drink. This dish tasted interesting. It had a hint of spice at every sip. Not my favorite but the presentation was lovely. Farzi SM-OK - a refreshing drink made up of vanilla and lemongrass. This drink is a must after the feast that you will encounter. It is a good palate cleanser before you enjoy your desserts. One of the drink that I love here!
After those mouthwatering succulent dishes, the flow of food can't stop without trying some of their most sought after desserts. Please Don't judge my appetite. We had the following:
Rasmalai Tres Leches - layered with gajar ka halwa and served with condensed milk topped off with some rose petals.
This creamy and soft dessert had the right amount of sweetness. I love the taste of saffron milk and rose petals together.
Lotus Biscuit Cheesecakes - Philadelphia cheesecake sandwiched between lotus biscuits served in a bowl filled with milk custard.
I've expected this dessert to lean on a more lotus type of dessert but unfortunately I was disappointed at how it tasted just ordinary. The cream cheese was overpowering for me.
Rissoto Phirni Oxide - made right at your table using liquid nitrogen and mixing it with some classic Indian dessert Phirni cooked in Italian risotto rice with saffron milk, mawa crumble, nuts, frozen sugar, and rose petals.
Officially the best dessert we tried at this place. It was so creamy and every bite feels like eating ice cream. I HIGHLY recommend you all try this dish!
We loved our experience here at Farzi, Everything was interesting to try and their fusion of international cuisines has been receiving a very positive response. Well, add me up on the thumbs up. Thanks to Chef Pradeed Negi for the awesome dishes. :D
I highly recommend all of you to try this place out and experience molecular gastronomy at its finest. Farzi Cafe is officially my favorite Indian Restaurant in the city!!!
