Aseelah is a new fine dining Emirati Restaurant that has recently opened its doors in Dubai. It is conveniently located in the vibrant Old Dubai Area inside the Radisson Blu Dubai Creek Hotel.
Have been living here in UAE for quite some time now but it's such a shame that I never tried a full pledged local restaurant YET. So when I received an invite to try this place out, I immediately said yes and was excited to get to know Emirati cuisines better.
When I got there, the place was absolutely stunning. It had a mix of both modern and traditional approach in building up the interiors of the place. They had the Aseelah Tree inside which was quite symbolic since it had a touch of what Dubai was back then.
I got to know the restaurant better and I was amazed to know that part of what they do aside from serving traditional cuisines is that they also take time in combining local and western dishes to create a distinct but addicting result.
Probably what sets this apart from any other Emirati restaurants is the fact that they serve alcohol in this restaurant. They even have an indoor Dj at the bar area. The perfect place to chill out, have fun and test some social skills in action.
Back to the food. Upon arrival, we were served with a nice flavorful saffron shot. I love the balance of sweetness of this drink.
After we were settled, we were then served with some sweet date bread that serves as our pre-appetizer. I am not a big an of dates though @frugalityonfleek loved munching this one.
After some time, we were then given the menu which had vast options to choose from. Just by reading the description of the dishes, you will be tempted to try it out. With the help of their super attentive and lovely server, We were able to try the best of the best they have to offer.
First thing, we started off with some Saj Bread with tomato chili and olives
One bite and I instantly fell in love with this. It was like eating a fresh slice of pizza without any meat. The sauce was so flavorful and addicting. A must try for all pizza lovers.
For the drinks, you have a lot of options to choose from. You can have a fresh juice, cocktails, or even alcoholic drinks that ranges from beers to vodka.
We then proceed for the salads, we had this two highly recommended dish:
Beetroot Carpaccio - Beetroots with fresh rocket leaves, lemon juice and olive oil served with tahini-flavored laban
This salad is just the perfect meal before enjoying your main dish. The ingredients used were of top quality and the freshness will never be a question. For those who wants to just be a goat and eat like a vegan then you should try this dish out.
Pan Roasted Quail Salad - Roasted quail breast stuffed with pistachio and is served with pumpkin puree, cinnamon jus, glazed beetroot, and wild rocket leaves.
It was my first time to try a quail breast. It had a different texture compared with a chicken and I believe it holds a distinct flavor of its own. The beetroot cubes were also very good. I love how it tasted.
After the starters, The main dishes came and we were left speechless. We tried the following: Spiced Parsnip and Almond Soup - Creamy soup made of parsnip and almond served with crispy veal bacon and saffron oil
I just love how rich this soup turned out to be. The almond flakes and bacon strips were very good to munch. Better finish this while hot.
Fish Machboos - seasonal sustainable local fish served with traditional Arabic rice
I didn't know UAE had a local fish. This dish packs a lot of taste in it. It had a mildly spicy gravy that is perfect with the spiced Arabic rice. Every bite of this dish is just so flavorful.
Seafood Risotto - Grilled Prawns and Halwa served with risotto
This was one of the most interesting risotto I had. The mix of Italian and Emirati ingredient produced a different taste that will surely keep you wanting for more.
Arabian Lobster - Poached Lobster served with herbed pilaf, pureed peas, fennel salad, and a spiced coconut sauce
This lobster is one of the prettiest things I have ever seen in terms of presentation. The taste was also something different with an Arabic touch. It had a mix of flavors coming from different herb and spices but nevertheless, it was one memorable dish to try.
Aseelah Trio of Camel Sliders - served in three different topping with sweet potato fries for the sides
My very first dream to taste camel meat came true in a form of burgers. Was so excited to try camel meat as they say that it will be quite tough but to my surprise, I didn't have any difficulties eating eat. The patty was tender and had a very distinct meat taste. My favorite topping is the cheddar. I just love cheese in my burger. :D
Home Smoked Rack of Lamb - Rack of lamb served with walnut and apricot cous-cous, sauteed spinach, parsnip puree, and with saffron and cardamom infused gravy.
One thing I love about this dish is the fact that the meat is sooooo tender it literally falls off the bones. The unique yet flavorful taste of the gravy is something to look forward to.
Last but not the least, I will never leave a place without trying some of their best selling desserts. Had a limited option but we managed to try the following: Date Pudding - Warm Date Pudding served with poached dates, mango, and passion ice cream
For all those who love dates, you should check this thing out. Better order some water, I hear this dish is quite sweet. :D
Baked Cardamom Cheese Cake - served with fresh berry compote and lime & laban ice cream
Was highly impressed by the presentation of this dish. Though it didn't have a lasting sensation for me. It tasted like an ordinary dessert.
This will definitely be not my last visit in this place. The dishes are created using high-quality ingredients that never fails. I love how each emirati dish had a different touch making everything uniqe. I urge you to try this place out. You will surely love it as I did. :D
