Once there was a Great King who wanted to taste the best sandwich that was ever made. This great king summoned battalions of his soldiers and sent them out on a great odyssey to different parts of the world and return to his kingdom with the best sandwich they could find. They returned with an assortment of sandwiches, and he proclaimed the "gyro" his favorite. "Gyro" is pronounced "hi-ro" which means "bread".
Go Gyroz offers authentic Greek style cuisine that will satisfy your cravings for something Mediterranean. The restaurant specializes in creating gyros with chicken or a mix of lamb and beef cooked in a vertical rotisserie and served on top of pita bread or sandwich.
We love how the place was set-up. The place was perfectly lighted with comfortable cushioned chairs and sofas, marble-like tables and pretty nice blue and white colored tiles.
The thing that makes this sandwich joint special is the fact that they make almost every ingredient in their own kitchen, from the bread, down to the dips. I was addicted to the taste of the gyros especially after dipping it in either the mint cucumber or chipotle sauce. It's some kind of meaty comfort food that you'll definitely enjoy. The BEST thing is that you can ask for MORE DIP, MORE MEAT, and MORE VEGGIES all for FREE!!! You'll be surprised at how much more servings of chipotle dip I asked for. In here, you'll feel at ease. They'll treat you like you're the king of their humble greek kitchen. Enough of the talking, Here's what The Hungry Feet had at Go Gyroz. OUR ORDERS
GYRO PLATE [AED 42]
The dish is prepared with your choice of seared meat or chicken gyro slices that is served with hummus, pita bread, lettuce, onions, tzaziki sauce and fries.
For our liking, we requested to have it with both meat and chicken to try each meat flavors. Both were actually good but i personally prefer the chicken more. One thing i noticed is that the meat used here isn't greasy and is packed with flavor. It is better to consume with the vegetables. Even the fries itself is not that greasy and you can have a taste of real potatoes here not like the ones you get from commercial fastfood chains.
THE BABYLONIAN BITE [AED 32] This dish makes use of arabic bread with gyro meat slices for the stuffing. It is mixed with pickles, tomatoes, chopped parsley and drizzled with sesame tahini and garlic sauce.
We loved the taste of this gyro dish. The sesame tahini and garlic sauce was rich and packed with flavor that complements the beef pretty well. One thing to take note around here is that you can ask the staff to add more meat/vegetables at no cost. Basically, That's how they treat their customers. As I said before, like a king.
THE MAYAN MYTH [AED 32] The dish is wrapped around tortilla bread and is stuffed with a generous amount of gyro meat slices, lettuce, tomato, onions, splashed with jalapeno spread and chipotle sauce. It is served with ground Guacamole and additional Chipotle sauce.
This is by far my favorite of the bunch. I am in love with the spicy yet satisfying chipotle sauce. I love how it complements the meat slices, it made the dish more enjoyable. For all those who love anything spicy, I would highly recommend you to try this out.
Make sure that you ask them for more meat. As i have mentioned, it will cost you nothing and you get to enjoy your gyro more. THE OTTOMAN ODYSSEY [AED 32] This dish is wrapped around a doner pocket bread stuffed with gyro meat slices, tomato, pickle, spread with roasted eggplant sauce and smothered with tomato sauce.
This came highly recommended and it did not fail. I find the dish unique. It had a taste of Italy because of the tomato sauce. The eggplant sauce spread underneath is amazingly good and tasted pretty well with the tomato sauce. We were very full and satisfied with our orders. It was good for sharing and the staff will happily slice it into bite-sized pieces.
We're not finished yet. Let's head on to the deserts! :D
Among all the desserts, my favorite was the COOKIES AND CREAM CHEESECAKE. It may be uninteresting to try at first glance but one bite and I promise you that you won't be able to get enough of this plate. I finished it in one sitting and didn't even notice!
Also loved the STRAWBERRY JELLO & CREAM, this gives a sweet yet balanced flavor that's quite addicting. I loved the unsweetened strawberries and the mix of cream amd grahams in the bottom. Not much of a fan of the MUHALABIA, it's basically made up of gelatin and is drizzled with strawberry slices and pistachio nuts. This one lacked some flavor according to my taste buds. CONCLUSION
Overall, I love the place. The Hungry Feet invites all of you to try this place out. It is truly a hidden gem located at Jumeirah Lake Towers Cluster D.
They have one of the best staff I have met. Warm, knowledgeable and accommodating. Roscell and John assisted us on choosing from the menu what suited our cravings with some facts and history on the side.
One big thanks to the staff of Go Gyroz for the wonderful dining experience. I am one happy customer!
