The Californian is an International Buffet Restaurant that's located inside Dusit Thani Hotel at Sheik Zayed Road. It hosts international cuisines all around the globe with each night having a different theme for its buffet table.
The place has a pretty good view of the Burj Khalifa and Downtown Dubai. A perfect place for anniversaries, birthdays, or something that you would want to celebrate.
Went there with Maizy Colleen on a Wednesday Night where the theme was South East Asian Cuisines. Lucky for Asians like us, we were so excited to see the vast options of dishes to choose from. From the starters, appetizers, mains, and up to the desserts. The selection was seamlessly very well represented.
In Buffets, My rule of thumb is always to avoid rice and bread but there is some food particularly Japanese sushi wherein I just can't say no to rice. But I usually start my meal with some appetizers and feast on the mains afterward.
Here are some of the dishes available here on a Monday Night:

When I tried the food, here's my verdict. The salads were alright and the desserts were also at the average. Overall, I personally find the main dishes on the bit bland. It was not bad but it was also not something to be excited about. Some dishes were dry and not good to try.
But like any other Buffets, there will always be that particular parts that you will keep on coming back. For me, the highlights of this buffet are the Thai stations which serve tom yam soup and the Japanese Sushi Buffet Station. Trust me Salmon sashimi never fails to impress.
Overall, I have a mix feeling of up and down in this Buffet Spread. It was not the worst but also not one of the best I had. Maybe I'll try different themes next time and see what's their best day to visit. :D
