Three long hours of road travel is all you need to experience a beautiful gem at the heart of Davao Oriental from Davao City. Dahican Beach is a certified surfers haven located in the city of Mati. This pristine long stretch of white sandy beach boasts crystal clear waters, rich marine life, and numerous water activities from skimboarding up to surfing lessons.
I was lucky to have visited this paradise again. It was already years ago since my last yet its majestic beauty remains the same.
From Davao City, there are countless ways to get to this place but the most popular, fastest, and cost-friendly route is to take a Van at the terminal fronting Gaisano Mall of Davao which would cost you around PHP200 for a one-way trip.
Upon reaching the place, It's absolutely hard not to fall in love with its grandeur. The cold breezy air, endless oceanic view, abundant coconut trees, and warm hospitality of the locals around the place simply makes it a true paradise.
Fronting the Pacific Ocean, It's quite normal for big, powerful, and beautiful waves to crash into its shores. Probably one of the primary reasons why this coast is loved by many.
With such feature, it has gained popularity for some extreme water sports and activities such as surfing and skim boarding. Currently, it is hailed as the "Skim Boarding capital of Mindanao". I can say this place is probably one of the cheapest places to try and learn the art of surfing.
For those who are planning to spend the night in this place, Don't worry there are a lot of resorts/guesthouse around. I have a friend who lives here so that saved me money for the accommodation. :'D
When you're a bit lucky and the weather permits, this place can actually be a great place for sunsets.
Though the sun really sets at the opposite location, you get to witness the separation of cotton candy and blue skies. Just by staring at it, the feeling is just magical and surreal.
I can watch this cotton candy skies all day.
Hands Down, Dahican is one of the best beaches that I have ever been to. A visit to this place is really one for keeps. Just one of the many proofs of how beautiful the Philippines is. This makes me excited and motivated to explore my country more simple because it really is more fun in the Philippines.
