If you're looking a perfect place for romantic dates or exclusive meetings with a VIP, you might want to consider this place which will not only give you the privacy that you need but also wow your companion with the majestic view and fulfilling food. This place is called Weslodge Saloon.
For those of you who doesn't know yet, Weslodge considers itself a modern tavern that offers American fare and classic cocktails with a stunning ambiance. They currently have 2 branches. The first one is in Canada and their second one is here in DUBAI!
Not all people may have heard about the place and spotting the area can be quite hard to find especially when it's located on the 68th floor of JW Mariott Hote in Business Bay Area. When you arrived at the floor, you can easily spot the place out especially because it is right across the yellow door.
When the doors opened, prepare to be amazed to the lovely interiors that the place has to offer. From every corner, you'll be stunned at the set up in every angle plus you get to have a view overlooking downtown Dubai and the Burj Khalifa.
This night was a dinner date with my favorite foodies Hannah Magsayo and Maizy Colleen. We will be trying out their 4-course fine dining menu. Basically, the 4-course meal will contain some appetizers, entrees, mains, and desserts.
Before the meal was served, they first offered us some glass of wine and of cocktail/whiskey. I consider it a pretty good drink to guide us in this gastronomic journey.
APPETIZERS:
Weslodge Chop - a mix of various vegetables plus some avocado and crumbled feta. Drizzled with some dill vinaigrette.
A wonderful healthy option dish highly recommended to all vegetarians. The ingredients used are fresh. You can feel the crunch of the vegetables at every bite. The feta was also lovely. It was very simple yet tasty.
Scallop Ceviche - rock shrimp mixed with cucumber, avocado, and jalapeno vinaigrette.
Another tasty starter dish. The shrimp complemented the other ingredients pretty well. I love the explosion of flavors that it packs. This is one of my favorite dish served.
AHI Tuna Ceviche - tuna bites marinated with lime, mixed with avocado, celery, yuzu hot sauce and served with a cup of sesame crackers.
This has got to be my favorite appetizer. Everything was so good. It was a pretty light meal yet leaves a mark to remember. :D
ENTREE
Crisp Quail Egg - a slow cooked quail egg coated with lamb sausage and crumbs.
Slowly cooked in order to get the right amount of texture to the egg. The taste was great. Everything was cooked well. I am quite convinced that this is better known as the Scotch Egg though.
Lobster Poutine - house fries mixed with some lobster meat and drizzled with tarragon and hollandaise sauce.
Another Favorite dish here. The use of lobster was insanely a genius idea. It made the whole experience special. The sauce was a perfect mix of the fries and it had a right amount of saltiness.
MAINS:
The highlight of the course is pretty much the main dishes. They served us two of their best sellers plus a side dish to consume.
Southern Fried Chicken - Marinated well with lemon overnight and deep fried to perfection, drizzled with some honey tabasco sauce and served with some fresh Brussels sprouts slaw.
First bite and yes you will fall in love with the crispiness of the skin plus the honey tabasco coating is highly addicting. It was perfectly deep fried and the chicken was so tasty. Every bite felt like eating some Korean Bon chon chicken which is also very good.
24 OZ T-Bone USDA Prime Steak - cooked over hardwood and charcoal, seasoned with Montreal steak spice, and served with your choice of sauce.
This has got to be one of the leanest meat that I have ever eaten. It was cooked medium well as per our request. The nice thing about the meat was that it's juicy and tender. You won't have a hard time enjoying it even though it's very thick.
Onion Rings - deeply fried well onions drizzled with some mayo and chives.
I find this side dish a bit salty for my liking. Though it had a pretty god explosion of flavors the saltiness of the dish just overpowers everything else but lessen the salt and this might be a sure favorite. :D
DESSERTS:
Key Lime Pie - coconut cream cheese mixed with lime zest.
I love the taste of coconut in this dessert. The lime zest was also a good combination. It had a great balance in terms of sweetness.
Smores Chocolate - chocolate biscuits sandwiched with marshmallows and drizzled with hot chocolate sauce.
This is the perfect dessert to end our meal at Weslodge. The chocolate didn't taste that sweet plus the lemon zest made a nice flavor combination. This was no doubt my favorite. :D
My experience at Weslodge Saloon was amazing. I had such a great time catching up with my friends while enjoying some satisfying meal with a stunning view. The food is cooked and presented well and we were delighted at how fast their service is despite the number of people at that time. A huge shout out to Alex for accommodating us. Truly a night to remember. Will surely come back to further try out their other dishes.
